North Star User Centred Design is a British consultancy based in Newcastle Upon Tyne founded by Ben Morrison in 2026.

After starting out in academia, Ben led within large-scale public sector user centred design practices and programmes for clients such as the NHS Business Services Authority, NHS England and UK government clients.

Along the way he saw a wide range of skills and abilities, and an industry which lacks a consistent, high-quality approach.

Ben founded North Star UCD with three main goals:

  • First, to develop a framework for delivering high quality user centred design, and to disseminate this across our partners and client engagements.

  • Second, to contribute to the growth of the blooming digital transformation scene in the North East of England.

  • Finally, to deliver social value, with the ambition of funding local initiatives that make a real difference to people’s lives in the North East of England.
